What is unique about your hub?
The Atlanta Hub was originally founded by a missionary desiring to have a hub closer to their furlough location. Volunteers, Dannie and his wife, Vickie, served as Atlanta Hub Coordinators for 12 years. After having conversations about moving to be closer to their children, they knew they would need to transfer their responsibilities to a new hub coordinator.
The Lord moved in Dannie’s heart to contact Macedonian Call of Georgia, a similar ministry, with the idea of forming a collaboration. Three men, Mike, Lanson, and Louis meet with Dannie and Vicki in their home where it becomes evident these men had a love for missionaries. They also had complete understanding of the importance of providing reliable transportation to missionaries through their years of serving with MCG. Mike mentioned, “I’ve been volunteering with MCG since 2006 and have been moved by the missionaries’ reaction when they pick up a vehicle. My passion is to make the transaction as smooth and convenient as possible.”
Today, Mike Campbell serves as the Atlanta Hub Coordinator along with several other volunteers, some of which have been involved with Macedonian Call of Georgia for many years.
This is one of the most requested hubs and with 16 fleet vans, it’s the largest hub outside of our headquarters location in St. Louis.
How could a volunteer help at your hub?
We need volunteers to meet and greet the missionaries as the vans are released and returned. These volunteers have the opportunity to interact with the missionaries and their families. They determine the needs of the missionaries and the condition of the vans. They gather information that allows us to be more effective in serving people and servicing vans.
We need volunteers to do routine service and maintenance on the vans as they are returned. They go through the checklists and correct service issues that we are equipped to handle. They also determine when the van needs to be checked out by a mechanic.
We need volunteers to prepare our Goody Bags for the missionaries. These contain snacks, personal items, and games or toys for the kids.
What are your prayer requests?
That we will always remember our mission is to serve missionaries in this basic need while they are on furlough.
That God provides the people and resources to staff and service this ministry.
