CLT Hub
Blythewood, SC
Hub Coordinators: Mark and Janice Phillips
What is unique about your hub?
The CLT Hub got its name from the nearest international airport: Charlotte Douglas Int’l Airport in NC; however, the hub’s location is 85 miles south of CLT in Blythewood, SC. We are located just northeast of Columbia, SC, where we can serve missionaries flying into or out of Charlotte (CLT), Columbia (CAE), Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP), Charleston (CHS), and Augusta (AGS). Many missionaries from further away have had friends or family drive them here to pick up a van at our location.
CLT’s hub coordinators, Mark and Janice Phillips, work closely with friends at their home church, Sandy Level Baptist, in making goody bags for missionaries and fundraising for the expenses of the hub. The Hub also has a great relationship with nearby Sandhills Community Church, home of a fantastic automotive service ministry, Good Samaritan Auto Care. They provide auto maintenance and repair at low cost to people in the community. GSAC does the CLT Hub van inspections between missionaries as well as a good bit of maintenance on our vans with no labor charge.
How could a volunteer help at your hub?
We would like to see a few people take a more active role in coordinating several aspects of the Hub’s work: cleaning vans, coordinating releasing vans and their returns, and fundraising.
What are your prayer requests?
We recently reached our goal of 10 vans, but are praying for grants and enough continuous donations to be self-sustaining, rather than to keep requesting funds from HQ for maintenance and replacing high mileage vans.
